Newcastle Town Football Club is delighted to confirm the appointment of Adam Shillcock as Assistant Manager.
Following a season in which the club secured its league status, this appointment reflects a clear intent to build forward and push towards the top end of the table for the seasons ahead.
Adam joins with a strong background in the non-league game, having held a number of roles, most recently with Whitchurch Alport and Market Drayton Town. Across two spells at Whitchurch Alport, Adam played an important part in a successful period for the club, contributing to their Shropshire Cup success in 2022, before returning as manager to guide the side to another cup win in 2025, alongside achieving their highest league finish and notable FA Vase runs.
Between those spells, he took charge at Market Drayton Town, helping to stabilise the club and move them towards a more competitive position in the table. More recently, Adam was part of the management team at Darlaston Town, during a period that saw a clear improvement in performances and results, before departing earlier this year.
Following discussions with Neil Baker and the Board, Adam felt Newcastle Town would be the right environment and is excited to contribute to the club’s next phase of its development.

Adam said:
“I’m really pleased to be joining Newcastle Town and grateful to Neil and the Board for the opportunity. Neil is someone I’ve known a long time and have a lot of respect for, so I’m looking forward to working alongside him.
The club has a strong base and a infrastructure to be envied at the level but it’s important we don’t become comfortable with that. Right now it’s important that we don’t stand still.
A lot of hard work has gone in over the years to keep the club in a solid position, and that has to be the starting point, not the end goal. The focus now has to be on progressing, being more competitive, and making sure we’re not just part of the league, but a progressive unit looking to move up it and compete on multiple fronts.
I’m ready to get to work, meet everyone connected to the club and do everything I can to help deliver new expectations.”
Further details regarding the wider make-up of Neil Baker’s management team will be shared next week.
