Newcastle Town Football Club is proud to announce the opening of a brand-new sensory room at its Roe Lane Playing Fields site, designed to provide a calm, inclusive space for players and visitors.
The sensory room has been thoughtfully created to support individuals who may benefit from a quieter environment, including those with sensory sensitivities, anxiety, or additional needs. Equipped with a range of comforting and engaging items such as a fidget toys, ear defenders, and soft bean bags, the space offers a welcoming retreat away from the busy atmosphere of matchdays and training sessions.
The initiative reflects the club’s ongoing commitment to accessibility, wellbeing, and community inclusion. By introducing this dedicated calm space, Newcastle Town Football Club aims to ensure that everyone can enjoy their time at Roe Lane in a way that suits their individual needs.
Grahame Edwards, Disability Officer for the club said:
“We’re delighted to introduce our new sensory room as part of our efforts to make the club as inclusive and welcoming as possible. Football should be for everyone, and this space will help ensure that more people feel comfortable and able to be part of our community offer.”
He went on to add “The club is hoping to secure further funding from local funding groups to further enhance the site with better signage, more items for the sensory room and a communication board. Hopefully we can announce these details soon.”
The sensory room is now available for use during club activities and events at Roe Lane Playing Fields.
