It’s been a hard gig trying to keep up to date with the comings and goings down at the GRG Waste Stadium this season, with player movements a plenty, even the most die hard of Town fans would be forgiven for saying “whose the lad on the left?”
In order to keep everyone abreast of the situation, we can hopefully clarify some of the new faces you’ve seen named on our recent team sheets.
First up, with his first start for Castle away against Congleton Town last Tuesday is Simbarashe Joel Nyamwanza who has joined us from Shrewsbury Town on work experience. The quick forward who put in an excellent performance on Tuesday, looks like being a good addition to the team.
Linking up with Simba is Karsten Cairns who also joins from Shrewsbury Town, likewise on work experience. Karsten was an unused sub against Congleton Town in the week, before coming on as a 75th minute sub on Saturday in our 1-1 draw.
Joe Hunter is another player who has made a good impression in his short time with us, the hard working and tricky winger has joined from our friends at Port Vale FC and after a little stint on the bench has worked his way into the management teams thinking for the starting line up, with starts against Witton Albion, Congleton Town and Clitheroe FC in the last week.
Two further recruits include Jerry Ehime Ugue who joins from Oldham Athletic and Lewis Jacklin who has returned from a stint in America, both who have impressed in training and have made some of the recent match-day squads.
With striker Tom Jones returning on Saturday, and a couple more signings to be announced in the next week, it looks like Town may now eventually have the strength in depth and competition for places we’ve been seeking all season. This can only bode well as we look to climb the table in the next few months.
