We’re off to Witton on Saturday. Well Wincham to be precise, which in itself is absorbed within the Cheshire salt town of Northwich.
So, for the second Saturday running we hope to be setting off north to Cheshire for a league game after last week’s trip to promotion hopefuls Runcorn – like every other game in the league bar Macclesfield’s – fell victim to the weather.
Sub-zero temperatures and frozen pitches across the region, is a world away from the last time we played our Northwich-based opponents. That came on the opening day of the league season. The game ended in a 1-1 draw with 1-1 also the number of players sent off for each team.
We gave an excellent account of ourselves that afternoon against a team new to our division, Jake Lovatt’s second half goal ensuring a share of the spoils.
That was the start of an eight-match unbeaten run in the league. Now we’re trying to end a run rather than keep one going. This will be our last fixture before Christmas – so the boys will be putting everything into this game to give our supporters an early festive present.
Then it’s Leek at home on Boxing Day. Make sure you’re out in force for that one and see you in Northwich on Saturday if you can make the trip!
