We’re delighted to report that our reserves side got off to a flier today under the new management team at home to Warstone Wanderers this afternoon.
Goals from Muhammed Manmeh, Samir Azam and Charlie Winfer gave our young side just the start we’d hoped for as we gun for promotion this season.
Dave Turner has come into the reserve set up with a wealth of managing experience of his own with our youth teams while Martin Ridley has a huge amount of playing experience at step 3, 4 and 5 and is the son of John Ridley, who played for Leicester City and locally at Port Vale. Martin also played for us in the mid to late noughties.
Speaking before the victory earlier today, reserve team manager Dave Dale explained how happy he is to have this level of experience on tap. “I feel blessed to have such an incredible management support team this season. Dave has managed our youth teams for the last 7-8 years and he’s someone you can completely rely on. He’s a great sounding board and a fantastic addition to the team.
“Martin is a totally different animal. He’s come back into football after being a professional golf caddie but easily could still be playing. His knowledge of the game is superb, and he won’t have a problem relating to the younger lads, who will have an immediate respect for him.”
Go well boys – let’s bring home promotion this season. You’ve made the perfect start!
