Newcastle Town X HGM Energies

Newcastle Town FC is embracing renewable energy at both our stadium and Roe Lane training facility with solar panels, battery storage and EV chargers from HDM Energies.

The two installations, featuring solar arrays of 28.32 kWp and 23.40 kWp along with a 69 kWh battery storage, will enable the club to significantly reduce energy costs and to 'Go Green'. The setup ensures that floodlit matches can now be powered entirely by renewable energy, reflecting the club’s commitment to sustainability.

This initiative was made possible through HDM Energies’ collaboration with Troo, a national energy consultancy that helps organisations connect with renewable energy solutions like the Energy for All scheme. By working together, the teams at Troo and HDM Energies have provided the club with a solution that is both financially and environmentally beneficial.

Gavin Appleby, Chairman of Newcastle Town FC, expressed his enthusiasm:

In partnership with Mark Boyce at Troo and the team at HDM Energies, we have found a solution that will save significant money for the club as well as demonstrating our environmental credentials to the football community. We are proud to be associated with this fantastic initiative from HDM Energies.”

Shaun Blakemore, Head of Operations at HDM Energies, highlighted the project’s broader impact:

"At HDM Energies, we are passionate about creating a sustainable future for clubs and businesses across the country. Newcastle Town FC exemplifies a community-based organisation with so much to offer, and we take great pride in delivering their renewable energy solution. The fully funded EV chargers will not only support sustainability but also create a revenue stream for the club, ensuring the future of this ambitious and forward-thinking local institution."
