After a couple of disappointing results in the draw at Hanley and the fairly subdued showing at home to Witton in midweek, the challenge of facing league leaders Vauxhall Motors could be just the challenge we need to get our competitive juices flowing.
Not many would have expected The Motormen to be flying the flag at the top of the league but they've had an extremely impressive season - one which included an extraordinary 6-3 win over Bootle.
In that game, the Scousers surged into a 3-0 lead inside 15 minutes but undeterred, Vauxhall Motors scored six without reply to set up their season.
That was back in August and they've not really looked back, with equally surprisingly, Widnes being their closest rivals.
In an upside down league season, we need to get our own act together to start climbing away from the lower reaches of the division - a task of course which won't be easy tomorrow. But before anyone gets too gloomy, it should also be remembered that Tuesday's loss at home to Witton was only our second league defeat of the season.
We may well have Stubbsy back in the squad for the visit of Vauxhall Motors tomorrow. And there's every chance that Jake Twyford and Carlos dos Santos might also be available again.
Whoever we do put out on the field though will need to be on it from the first minute, as our visitors from Ellesmere Port will be looking to lay down another marker in a season when predicting results has been a fool's game.
Come on Castle!
