Basement side Trafford next up for ‘Castle
By the time we get to Saturday, it will have been two weeks since we moved up to sixth with a 2-0 win at Widnes and gaffer Paul Moore and the lads will be very keen to get back into league action, to see if we can sneak into the play-offs with a victory over Trafford.
On Tuesday, we had a hastily arranged friendly fixture against a team of very fine young talented players going by the name 4-3-3, who have been training on our 3G pitch.
These youngsters showed tremendous skill and but for a terrific performance between the sticks from Slinny, we certainly would have lost. For the record, the game finished 1-1.
Someone that made a tremendous impression from 4-3-3 was Phoenix Lee, a 19-year-old from Perth, Western Australia, who gave Stubbsy and Josh a torrid time. He's signed for us and goes into the squad for Saturday.
On to Trafford then, and with the two teams above us - Chasetown and Clitheroe - playing against each other, this is a chance to move into the league play-off positions for the first time since Ryan McLean was banging in the goals for us in pre-Covid times.
With no further injuries and a full squad to pick from, the gaffer will be unlikely to make wholesale changes, so the visit of Trafford should see home debuts for both Dan Cocker-line and Isaac Graham, as well as Phoenix.
Our Manchester visitors are yet to register a league win this season with three draws and three defeats so far, but Paul and the management and coaching team will be taking nothing for granted and will ensure that we are ready to go come 3pm on Saturday.
Come on ‘Castle!
