Weather permitting – it’s finally here!
It’s typical that ahead of a game we’ve been looking forward to for ages – and that has already been postponed once – that we could yet be foiled by the weather.
The chance to pit ourselves against the league leaders comes at a great time for us, so if the expected big frost stays away and we can get the game on, we will definitely be ready for the challenge.
This will be our first game since Robin and Paul announced that they would be standing down from running the first team, so there are plenty of reasons for the lads to put on a good show to ensure we set ourselves up nicely for our remaining fixtures.
Anyone that watched the home game with Clitheroe last Saturday will have seen that the spirit is high in the camp and that we are more than capable of pulling off the kind of performance that could upset the Silkmen. We’ve got it in us.
This is a free hit for Robin and the boys. The pressure is all on our visitors, who had the tiniest of wobbles last Saturday when they could only manage a goalless draw at 1874 Northwich.
Last week’s superb display in beating promotion-chasing Clitheroe was achieved despite us having a lot of players out with injury or illness and while we’re still missing a few, the garden is getting a lot rosier.
Will Lloyd may return after missing out last week with a chest infection. Ollie Ritchie is also back in the frame and Tommy Van der Laan has made a strong recovery and is likely to be involved. Nathan Morley and Kyle Stubbs who were on the bench last week will also push for inclusion in the starting XI.
It promises to be a terrific game, so let’s hope the weather forecasters are slightly awry with their predictions and that we can get this game on. It really is one to look forward to.
Come on Castle!
