Seventeen-year-old Max Van der Laan became the latest player to make the first team having joined our Football and Education Scholarship Programme in September.
Max came on as a late substitute in our 3-1 win at Widnes and in doing so became the second player this season, following Lewis Holdham, to make a first team league appearance after joining the programme.
He made his debut for the first team in our 4-1 defeat at home to Port Vale in the Staffordshire Senior Cup in October and has had some outstanding performances in our reserves this season. Under the watchful eye of Dean Gillick he has scored two goals playing in a central midfield role in 12 appearances.
Max has worked hard to earn a chance to play with the first team and we wish him well with his future development at the club.
