Run of home games coming right up
After our visit to Chasetown for a league match a week on Saturday, (18 November), we have a run of four successive home games for everyone to have the chance to get along and see the first team in action.
The run starts with our rearranged game from last month against Avro. This now takes place on Tuesday 21 November.
The following Saturday (25 November) sees us back at Buckmaster Avenue for a league encounter with Vauxhall Motors. The Ellesmere Port side were promoted last season as champions of the North West Counties Premier League – winning the division by eight points – and have started solidly this season.
Our last meeting with them came way back in October 2010. That was in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup and they beat us 1-0. The Motormen – who at the time were playing in the Conference North – eventually went out to Hartlepool after a replay in the first round proper.
Our last league game against the Motormen was even further back. On Tuesday 25 January, 2000 to be precise. In that 1999/2000 league season we were runners-up to them in the North West Counties League, drawing at home 1-1 in November but then losing the return 1-0 in the new year. So, let’s hope we can score our first goal against them this century two weeks on Saturday – we’ll have waited long enough!
As we move into December, we have our third successive home league game and this one’s against second placed Prescot Cables. The omens are good – we’ve only lost one out of our last four against the Liverpool based club.
Our fourth successive home game comes against Stone Old Alleynians and this one’s in the Staffordshire Senior Cup, which we enter at the last 16 stage.
Having been knocked out of the FA Cup and FA Trophy relatively early this season, this fixture represents a final opportunity for us to progress in the cups this season.
And before all of that, we entertain Witton Albion on Saturday in our next league game – we’ll have a full preview of that one later in the week. Please come along and follow the boys for as many of these games as you can. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Let’s make it a season to remember.
