1st qualifying round draw dangles the carrot of home tie
The draw for the first round qualifying round has been made and we now know that if are able to win our replay tomorrow night against Westfields, that we will be at home to Long Eaton United in the first qualifying round.
It would be our first home draw in seven FA ties (FA Cup and FA Trophy) but of course Westfields will be determined to make it into the first qualifying round themselves.
If we progress – and these pieces always have to be heavily caveated of course – the next round will be played predominantly on Saturday 31 August with some matches played on the Friday and the Sunday of that weekend, as is always the case in the cup.
Long Eaton United play at the same level of football as us in the Northern Premier League but while we play in the west division, they play in the midlands league. They have taken a point from their opening two games this season.
Our preliminary round replay against Westfields takes place at Buckmaster Avenue tomorrow night with a 7.45pm kick-off. We hope to see as many of you at the ground to hopefully cheer us on to the 1st qualifying round for what would be a very welcome home draw.
Come on ‘Castle!
