3G pitch opening this weekend!
It’s nearly time!
This weekend we will be opening our new 3G pitch at Roe Lane and there’s plenty for everyone to get stuck into.
At 10am on Saturday, the £1.1m pitch will be officially opened with dignitaries from the Staffordshire FA, the Football Foundation and partners who have been with us on this amazing journey.
As you would expect, football will be the focus with the soccer school kicking things off at 10.30am followed by an academy game, which will be run by ‘Castle’s first team captain James Askey. Youth team events will be running throughout the day but there’ll be plenty of non-footballing activities going on as well for everyone to enjoy.
Hitmix FM are providing the music, there’ll be a bouncy castle for some of the younger ones, while for those looking to take things a little steadier, there’ll also be a cake stall. The café will be open all day to provide further refreshments.
Plenty of players and officials will be there – including the new gaffer Paul Moore – and they’ll all be happy to talk about the hugely positive direction the club is moving in.
Club chairman Gavin Appleby can’t wait for Saturday to come round: “I’ll be honest, I just need the day to happen now! All the planning, all the phone calls all the chasing and checking it’s been keeping me busy that’s for sure. It’s going to be an amazing weekend and one I’ll always remember.
“I’d like to take this opportunity today to say how very grateful I am to the army of volunteers who have helped to make this happen not just for what’s happening this weekend – which will be incredible – but all the unseen work in the build-up. Just like the beautiful game itself – it’s a team effort.
Adam Share, chairman of club sponsor RED Industries, said: “It’s been our privilege to contribute substantially to enhance the facilities at the club over the years but to be involved in this £1.1m new 3G project elevates our commitment to a whole new level. It's not just about football; it's about making a positive impact on the local community and transforming lives – a cause that resonates deeply with our core values.
We are very proud of our long-standing partnership with Newcastle Town Football Club which spans from 2009, so we were delighted to be able to play a key role in their plans for the new 3G pitch.
It’s great to see the vision materialise into a vibrant and state-of-the-art 3G pitch, which will benefit the entire community taking the facilities at the club it to a whole new level.”
Well we couldn’t agree more with Adam on the comment about the community – it’s what this club has always been passionate about! All that remains to be said is come and join us this weekend – gates open at 9am on Saturday.
See you there!
